Howtelevision, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Yosuke Otonari), which operates the career platform "GaishiShukatsu.com" supporting students who aspire to challenge themselves globally, held "Job Discovery ONLINE," an online event featuring individual discussion sessions and panel discussions between companies and students, for 10 weekdays from Monday, May 25 to Friday, June 5, 2020.
The event was attended by high-class students targeted by GaishiShukatsu.com members and companies. Students commented, "I was able to hear from companies that don't exhibit at other events," while companies noted, compared to other events, "the proportion of students from top universities was higher" and "we were able to understand the interests of our target demographic in our company." Approximately 70% of participating students were from so-called top universities such as the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Waseda University, Keio University, Hitotsubashi University, and Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the number of viewers exceeded 10,000. Additionally, 30 companies popular among these students participated.

■ Background
Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, many offline company information sessions were canceled, leading to a lack of information for students regarding their desired companies and increasing anxiety about job hunting. Meanwhile, companies expressed concern about a decrease in opportunities to connect with their target students, leading to insufficient applicant pools. In light of this situation, "Job Discovery ONLINE" was held as an online discussion-style event to meet the needs of both students and companies.
■ About the Event
Under the two themes of "Discovering unknown industries and companies" and "Learning more about interesting industries and companies," company presentations and student Q&A sessions were conducted ONLINE. Students participated as "members" who could directly engage in discussion-style conversations with companies and presenters, or as "audience" who could watch the discussion sessions.
■ High Satisfaction for Both Participating Students and Companies
Surveys conducted after the online event showed high quantitative and qualitative evaluations from both participating students and companies. Feedback also highlighted the unique benefits of online events, such as ease of participation for students from regional areas and cost advantages.
