Gaishi Shukatsu Research Institute Releases "Job Hunting Survey of Top-Tier Students, Class of 2028 (May 2026)" for Students Using GaishiShukatsu.com

Howtelevision, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Yosuke Otonari), which operates the user-first career platform GaishiShukatsu.com under the vision of "Fostering talent that can take on global challenges and create the future," has announced the results of the "Survey on Job Hunting Activities of High-Achieving Students Graduating in 2028 (May 2026)," conducted by its Gaishi Shukatsu Research Institute among university and graduate students scheduled to graduate in 2028.
This is the first survey targeting students graduating in 2028. Conducted in May, when preparations for summer internships are in full swing, all respondents are early-stage students who are already aware of or have started their job hunting activities. This report summarizes the survey results, focusing on the timing and triggers for starting job hunting, trends in preferred industries, and future internship participation plans.

The survey revealed that over half of the respondents (55.6%) started their job hunting activities in their second year or earlier (up to March 2026), an increase of 7.1 percentage points from the 2027 graduate survey conducted at the same time last year (48.5%). Furthermore, it became clear that students who start early tend to strongly prefer the consulting industry as their first choice, indicating that applicants aspiring to this industry are influencing the early start of job hunting activities.
