Howtelevision, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Yosuke Otonari), which operates the user-first career platform "GaishiShukatsu.com" under the mission "Foster talent that can take on global challenges and create the future," will release a special feature article series, "Job-Type Era Job Hunting and Careers" (8 parts in total), starting Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Background of the Project
In Japan, "job-type" (*) employment, which seeks specialized skills from candidates, is becoming more widespread. In recent years, even major Japanese companies have been attracting attention for promoting recruitment and work style reforms based on "job-type" thinking.
If this trend continues, even if students ultimately secure employment under a recruitment system that is not job-type employment, such as "generalist positions," they will need to clarify "what kind of work they want to do" and "what kind of career they envision in the medium to long term" more than before to broaden their options in job hunting.
How can one adapt to the coming "job-type" era? We explored work styles when job-type employment becomes widespread, how seniors conscious of "job-type" approaches conducted their job hunting, and the realities of companies adopting "job-type" recruitment for new graduates, through interviews with experts, students, and companies.

*Job-type: A term first used by labor researcher Keiichiro Hamaguchi in his 2009 book "A New Labor Society: Rebuilding the Employment System" (Iwanami Shoten). In principle, it is an employment system where the job description (= job) is guaranteed, and personnel capable of performing that job are hired. Wages are also tied to the job.
